On 4 June 2024, the conference “Use, storage and distribution of green hydrogen in the Belgian and German ports and chemical industry” took place in the impressive Porthuis Antwerp. The event, organised by AHK debelux in collaboration with eclareon, provided a platform for exchanging views on current strategies and developments in the field of green hydrogen.
Argo-Anleg, represented by Senior Sales & Project Manager Dirk Fischer, actively participated in the conference and contributed to the programme with a presentation. Dirk Fischer introduced Argo-Anleg as a leading company in the development and supply of high-tech gas solutions. He emphasised Argo-Anleg’s extensive expertise in the hydrogen economy and presented the company’s innovative solutions and products, including PEM electrolysers, H2 valve technology and H2 filling stations.
In addition to this and in line with the topic of decarbonisation in inland and coastal shipping, Dirk Fischer also presented the “Seanergy” project – another EU project in which Argo-Anleg is actively involved. Further information on Seanergy can be found at: https://seanergyproject.eu/
The conference provided a valuable opportunity to shed light on the various hydrogen strategies of the Flemish and Walloon regions and the federal governments of Belgium and Germany. The role of ammonia, the network strategy of the world’s first hydrogen network operator and the importance of ports for the transport of hydrogen were particularly emphasised.
Dirk Fischer took the opportunity to explain the benefits of Argo-Anleg’s products and services, which cover the entire value chain from electrolysis, storage and transport to refuelling and control systems. Another highlight of the conference was the panel discussion on German-Belgian cooperation in the development of a green hydrogen infrastructure. Here, Argo-Anleg was able to make valuable contacts and identify potential business partners for future projects.
B2B meetings between German and Belgian companies also took place on 5 and 6 June, providing additional opportunities for networking and identifying opportunities for cooperation. These meetings were particularly fruitful for Argo-Anleg, as they offered the chance to deepen business relationships with potential partners and suppliers in Belgium.
Another highlight of the trip to Belgium was a high-calibre panel at the German ambassador’s residence. Participants included:
- Mechthild Wörsdörfer, Deputy Director General in DG Energy of the European Commission
- Petr Mervart, Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Industry and Trade for Hydrogen Technologies at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic
- Tom Hautekiet, President of the Belgian Hydrogen Council
- Felix Matthes, Deputy Chairman of the National Hydrogen Council Germany
- Veronika Vohlídková, Member of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Hydrogen Platform HYTEP
On the last day of the business trip, the German delegation was invited to the WIC (Waterstof Industrie Cluster) trade fair, which was being organised for the first time. Both took place at the former PHILIPS premises in Turnhout. Over 50 exhibitors and more than 25 speakers took part in this networking event organised by the Waterstof Industrie Cluster. The initiative was well received by the participants. Around 170 members attended the event and the interesting presentations, which were spread over 3 break-out rooms. All in all, it was a great opportunity to learn, discuss and make new business contacts. Stand holders and visitors appreciated the evenly spaced stands and rated the organisation of the event.
Argo-Anleg is proud to have been part of these three important conferences and to be actively involved in shaping developments in the field of green hydrogen. We would like to thank the organisers for the excellent organisation and the respective invitations and look forward to future collaborations and innovations in the hydrogen sector in BeNeLux.
